Dog Training Tips

Why dog training is important and necessary?

A misbehaving dog can put a strain on the owner’s relationship with the animal. Instead of the time spent together being a happy time, it can be very stressful for both the human and animal. Also, untrained dog’s inappropriate behavior when outside the home can be an embarrassment to the owner, resulting in the animal being house-bound

Here are some of the tips for training your dog.

Leadership
Dogs are pack animals and needs a leader that the dog can trust to fulfill her needs and lead her safely through life. It means that you should be confident in dealing with your dog and must project this energy, making a firm eye contact with your dog will help. If you are calm and firm, your dog will recognize you as a leader. This will increase her trust and desire to listen to your command.

Timing
Your dog needs to be corrected only when caught in the act. Even seconds afterwards he won’t associate the correction with the action. Likewise, reward has to be given precisely at the time he is executing whatever command you give him.

Reward
One of the biggest keys to success with positive reinforcement training is rewarding your dog properly. This means giving him something he loves at exactly the right moment.

Consistency
Once you’ve established a rule for your dog you must never allow him to break it.

Patience
Training a dog takes time and effort and will not happen overnight. Also, each dog is unique, and learns at his own pace. Patience is indeed a virtue when it comes to effective dog training.
